I had the pan seared salmon and yam wedges. It was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. Good service, great atmosphere, decently priced. Definitely will, and have, recommended. I will definitely plan on coming back, whenever I'm in town.
I had family visiting from New York & Ohio and wanted to find a brunch here in Lawrence that we all would enjoy. Merchants did not disappoint. Every one found something on the buffet to rave about, even myself who is a vegiterian had endless options. This place will certainly be added to our list of local gems.
Great food, HORRIBLE service. Had a group of 15 girls and it took 2.5 hours for the meal. Checks took 45 minutes on their own. Then, when we talked to the manager about it, he said it was our fault for changing seats. I am a server and I understand how challenging big groups can be. But this was unacceptable.

Merchants is popular bar and restaurant on Massachusetts Street in Lawrence. They serve organic, well-prepared meat (often local), vegetarian and vegan offerings. Their sweet potato wedges and also their Brussels sprouts made with apricots and cashews are our favorite. Their hamburgers are also delicious. The beer selection on tap is one of the best in Kansas, and their cocktail of the day is always a tasty mystery that we love to try.
