Specialties: Melrose Caverns Lodge and Special Event Venue Established in 1929. Melrose Caverns lies on the Harrison homestead and was discovered by David Harrison in 1818. In April 1862, Union forces commanded by Gen. Banks marched south to reinforce units occupying the area. Banks's army set up camp on the Harrison's farm. Troops found the cave and explored it with torches. Very interesting visit. Guide gave detailed and interesting history about this place. Enjoyed their movie while waiting for four tour to start.
