Dr. Schmitt is a wonderful and thorough ophthalmologist. She and her staff have been amazing with my son who was 1 and a half when we started seeing her. My son was born at 27 weeks and has Retinopathy of Prematurity stages 1 and 2. We are now just monitoring going forward and I feel confident she is the best with my son after a horrible experience in Rockford with the NICU eye doctor. Dr. Schmitt and her staff are great with kids, make them feel comfortable and like they are having fun.

I understand what is happening with my daughter's vision mainly because I ask the questions. The techs who come in before Dr. S. and do the eye exam are always very patient and sweet and thorough. Dr. Schmitt comes in the last 5 minutes or less. The last two times she had finished her last sentence and walked out the door as she was speaking it. I was not done talking, however. She seems rushed and does not give enough time.
