I had my slides sent to MD Anderson for a 2nd opinion. They billed my insurance company $272 for a “pathology report.” I asked for a copy of the report and it matched exactly the report from Alabama. Problem is Dana Farber read the slides and they diagnosed a totally different cancer, different tumor grade, different mitoses & nuclear grade. And on their report it said “slides from outside lab not read”. I don’t understand how they can charge for a report when they didn’t read the slides?!??? I was referred by Dr. James Uyeki, Texas Oncology in Austin, Texas, to MD Anderson for a possible clinical trial. After Dr. Paul Corn and his staff reviewed by medical history and data, I did not qualify for any trial. I was totally impressed by their professionalism, empathy and kindness . Dr. Corn left the door open for any future medical therapy. He said go back to Austin and Dr. Uyeki, Dr. Corn’s former student, will care for you.
