This was our first time in Portland, Oregon. This was our first time in Oregon, period. When looking for a place to stay in downtown, this was the first hotel that caught our attention. We could tell right away that we would enjoy the atmosphere as we are fans of the whimsical and strange, so I didn’t delay in booking the room. The theme was tacky, the room cluttered and dusty. The front desk was pleasant. The restaurant was nearly deserted but the staff was very good and my steak dinner was OK. The martini was very good. The price was quite reasonable for a Pearle District room.

We are locals and enjoyed the Crystal Hotel for a quick, 1-night staycation. And this place has lots of character. Walking the hallways, we felt like we were dropped into some Beat Generation hotel. Very cool. Staff was incredibly kind and welcoming. And the soaking pool in the basement is an amazing bonus. We walked two blocks for happy hour.
