My delivery was rough. Did Dr McCarter do a good job and make the best medical decisions? Up for debate. What I can tell you was communication was poor, he appeared inconvenienced with my complications and (my biggest red flag) my nurses were openly upset with him. I was disappointed most of all at my 6 week post partum appointment. He was curt and rough. I have very mixed feelings about this doctor. At first, he seemed really personable and friendly, and I'd say that is the baseline for him. He's pretty dependable and was really focused at my birth. HOWEVER, I feel like he really didn't communicate with me on a number of occasions. For example, I did not want a cervical check till I was going to be closer to delivering, but one day he came in an just did a cervical check around 36 weeks without asking. Makes me feel safe and keeps me involved in all decisions.
I would trust this man with my life. He did my endometriosis surgery and did an AMAZING job 10/10. I recommend anyone to him that has concerns or questions. He is so validating, I have only had to have surgery once, where many people need to have multiple surgeries in a small number of years for the same endo tissue. Each body is different, but there are few doctors like this one. He also left me with the most minimal scarring and small incision marks that unless pointed out are not even noticeable. Dr. McCarter couldn’t have done a better job throughout every step of my pregnancy, delivery, and post partum care. It is so important to have an OBGYN that you trust, and I always felt that Dr. McCarter is very thorough and honest with any question/ concern that I had. During my delivery, he handled every stressful moment calmly, and safely delivered my daughter.
