I called today to find out if I could receive help from the Mayo Clinic. I suffer from debilitating mental health issues and have literally tried everything I can which is why several of my doctors referred me to the Mayo Clinic despite living thousands of miles away. I finally got the courage to call. It was not a good experience. As I type this review, I am unable to stop crying. The man who answered the call was incredibly rude. He was apathetic and would not offer any information about the Mayo Clinic’s services. He made... read more
I don’t even know where to begin. Inpatient psychiatric hospitalization at Mayo Clinic increased my suffering instead of relieving it. It kept me alive, but it didn’t help me want to live. The adolescent psychiatric team is not trauma informed, they look for people/things to blame with a higher priority over meeting patients and families where they are at in order to help the family through the crisis and gain skills to live healthier and help avoid future need for hospitalizations. It is an unwelcoming environment. One where you feel looked down on. No evident empathy. Would not recommend.
