Just because he's a sweater-wearing, friendly-looking grandpa of an old man doesn't make him any less of a completely untruthful shyster....yeah he's been doing this for a While. Don't believe the mileage on anything there. Don't believe any of his "forgetful old man stories". Just don't buy a car from him, or you will regret it.
