CBGBs of NJ Everybody plays Maxwell's when they play Jersey. It is one of those great Jersey clubs. Don't get dressed up but come see some live music and have a couple drinks, too.
Great nightclub with good food! Very hip nightclub with great live music. Wonderful place to hang with your friends to have a drink and grab a bite to eat -- try their nacho plater, quesadillas, sandwiches, burgers or pot pie. For all you guys -- they have a great tap bar selection.
Rude staff Won't go back. The staff, hostess in particular, was incredibly rude. Too bad because I used to like to go here for shows.
Good food and atmosphere This is great place to go to hear live music or have a cozy sit down dinner. A bar/grill with reasonably priced drinks and very good food. It has a very nice intimate and casual atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Best New Jersey Club Someone reviewed this as the CBGB's of New Jersey. Not even close. It is the Taj Mahal compared to that of CBGB's. Maxwell's is so much cleaner, they have a dining area (with very good food, I recommend the crab cake) and frankly it is the best New Jersey music club at the moment. Great sound, although it is a small capacity club and it is mostly 18 and up! You won't find anything better in New Jersey. The atmosphere is great any time you go as well. PROS: Great sound, food and atmosphere CONS: None
One of my Favorites! This place has it all, awesome music, great food and an atmosphere that makes you want to return again and again. Try the burgers or their spectacular quesadilla's, everything on the menu is delicious. Also with knowledgeable bartenders who are friendly and love to serve. The sound system makes it sound like an arena hundreds of times bigger, abut with the small stage it is easy to interact with the artists. Fun NJ Club I've been to Maxwell's for several concerts over the past few years, and I always have a great time. While it's a smaller venue, they always have really fun and talented bands playing. Every trip to Maxwell's is guaranteed to be a good time!
This Place has a Dark Side At night this place changes into some kind of a nightclub, much to my dismay considering only hours before you'll find children eating. The bouncers don't identify themselves and will become physically violent with you if you don't respect that a plain-clothes person saying "HEY" at you when you're already inside the establishment is in a position of authority somehow.
