Dr. Mavec exhibited rude, unkind behavior. I went to the Overland Park Surgical Center for a colonoscopy and biopsy. I was a little scared and asked him about the procedure. He said, "You can go home if you want to. I'm not going to babysit you." Those were his only words to me. No one talked to me following the procedure. I went here for stomache pain, trouble swallowing, and constant change in bowel movements. He came in and didn't introduce himself and asked what was wrong. I tell him these symptoms and when he begins going over the medication list, he starts blaming my symptoms off on my medication. The issue with this is that I have been sick way longer than I have been on those medications which is what I told him. When I get stressed out, I apologize. Today was my first appointment with Dr. Mavec and I was a little nervous based on reviews. However I have to say his office staff was very friendly and kind and Dr. Mavec seemed knowledgeable and gave me an opportunity to share my concerns. After some treatment discussion he asked if I had questions or if I needed to add anything else that I had not had a chance to share yet. I will be back to share more thoughts as my treatment progresses!
Worst experience I have had with a doctor. Don’t bother to ask a single question and his nurse Nikki is the rudest women I have ever encountered! Why get in the medical field if you’re not gonna have the patience to help people?
I have had multiple colonoscopies and one upper endoscopy by Dr. Sturgeon. He has always been very patient to explain my results and recommended actions. He personally called me when the test results arrived to be sure I had the opportunity to ask him questions.
Very Professional Team at Gastrointestinal Associates/Endoscopic Imaging Center with the guidance of Dr. Mavec and his team (Patti, Earl, Mindy and Elaine). Thank you for your extraordinary patient care and kind hearts.

Dr. Mavec is hands down the best doctor I've ever visited. He is a rare find in that he is extremely knowledgeable (diagnosed me quickly and correctly after three other doctors failed to do so) AND a warm and wonderful bedside manner. He goes above and beyond to show he cares. He noticed I didn't have insurance the third time I came to visit him (recently), so he carefully explained which tests he thought were the most necessary and which he felt I could wait to do until I had insurance.
Great Doctor !!! Explained findings after my procedure. Would highly recommend him and his wonderful staff.
