Best Veggie Chilli Relleno Great Mexican restaurant next to the Lakewood theatre. Upstairs loft, great patio, bar. Try the cheese chilli relleno with pecans and raisins. Fabulous!
Great Mexican food Matt's has great mexican food all the way around. They have this awesome dip, I can't remember the name off the top of my head, with ground beef and cheese - it's like a meal. Their patio rocks, too.
Not much beyond the Patio This place has a great patio, no doubt about it. But other than that, its pure mediocrity. The queso is good, but the fajita's are just average. It does make a pretty good place for a Pacifico-drinking happy hour, though. My friends say the margaritas are good, although I havent had one, so I can't vouch. My suggestion, go for drinks, skip the food, and mozie on over to Cock and Bull or Lakewood Landing for a burger afterwards.
Perennial Mexican... I love it... Matt's Rancho Martinez started out in a little place on ferguson road and built up its clientel until it took over a city block of Lakewood real estate... They are now in a historic old building just down from the old Lakewood Theatre. The shrimp chili rellenos is the most fantastic thing ever... Grilled shrimp, heat and pecans what is not to like? You can't get them anywhere else here... Come try a Dallas Landmark....
Impressive food This place has great food. Not only are there many selections, but they have many good combos that you can choose if you want to sample many entrees. The place itself has a nice atmosphere, but sometimes the floor and tables are a bit dirty looking. Go here if you want good Mexican food.
Great place for dining al fresco! A couple of patios make this charming Lakewood restaurant an especially nice place for dining outdoors, even during Dallas' summer months. Great food, superior menu and upscale service. Also good for an occasion, both at the restaurant and catered at your location. Try the shrimp fajitas. Theyre to die for! TEX-MEX for sure! Don't kid yourself- there is nothing Mexican about the Bob cheese dip. But DAMN it's good! The salsa varies from extremely spicy to mild and delicious, but that means they make it fresh. The Chile Rellenos are amazing! They are the only ones I've ever seen served with raisins and pecans, and it is a strange but tasty addition. Not worth it Too bad that this restaurateur has forgotten his roots. I think they go by and hope that they still have loyal followers from the years before they made their name. Another restaurant named Mattito's has the exact same Bob Armstrong dip?? I enjoyed that restaurant much better with less hassle and nicer servers!
110% TexMex It's probably more Tex than Mex too. But, it's also delicious and filling. The margaritas are pricey, but the alcohol content and size make up for that. I've had only good experiences with the wait staff who always remember us and say hello. Check it out! It's a Lakewood favorite.
