In the late 1990's, Matta's decided to reach more customers in a different way. Not 'fast food', but good food fast. Matta's Mexican Grill was that idea,it opened in December 2002. While staying true to Matta's family recipes, Matta's Mexican Grill offered north east Mesa a fast casual style restaurant with a convenient call ahead drive-thru.

Not the original, but very good If you have time for a full sit-down restaurant, I recommend sticking with the original Matta's on Main. If you want a more casual atmosphere, however, and need it to be quicker, this is a great alternative. You order at a counter and then find yourself a seat. The food is still delicious if not quite as good as the Matta's on Main. It is cheaper, though. PROS: Cheaper and faster than original Matta's CONS: Food isn't quite as good but still good
Traditional Mexican I miss the old Mattas on Main Street, as I grew up going there with my family, but the fast-food version lets me keep eating my old favorites. I believe it is the only restuarant in town that puts beef in their chili rellenos, rather than just cheese. They are worth any amount of money, but the prices are great.
The BEST Mexican food in AZ Mattas has my vote for best mexican food in AZ! The prices are fantastic, and the food is unbeatable. The shreded beef chimichangas are my favorite they are made to perfection. The atmosphere is very relaxed and family friendly, the staff is awesome! Glad they are still here Although I miss the original Matta's, I am glad we still have the grill. It is fairly small and gets rather busy, but the food is good and so is the service.
I love his place – I love love love this place. I love the food and I love the price. You need to eat here. I have been going to mattas for over 15 years and I have never found a better shredded pork chimichanga anywhere :) "Sandy special" Everyone should try it at least once.
This place is pretty good, but they are way to busy to have so few tables. The food is good, comes out warm and the service is quick. I love to order take out from them and pick it up thru the drive thru to avoid the craziness inside with so few tables. Overall, this place has some great Mexican food!
