A while ago I was really hurting for $ and i brought gold ruby necklace intending to sell it. The mean old woman behind the counter must have sensed my situation and tried to offer me $100 for necklace easily worth $5000. Just over all bad and immoral business.
Everything is a negotiation. And the lady is armed with many lies. She told me she paid 81% of market value by weight. Then did the math at 80%. Then said 14k is only 55% pure. 14k is 58%. When I called her on her math she had an answer I was not prepared for for everything. Everytime she redid the math the price went up ten bucks. But when I finally said, "this is the least I'll take because the guy I usually sells to pays...," the lady gave me the bump without hesitation. I hate places like this.
