let's pay for it first before you drink or eat anything at the store. I think it's just a matter of manner and common sense to not to drink anything that you haven't paid for. I'm pretty sure they weren't as much concerned about stealing as they were about manner and image of the store. If you're thirsty, you should pay for it first and drink it. Is that so hard to do?
The staff are rude and the price is higher that other location's My husband and I are Marukai members and one time we went to this location and had an incident with the staff. We were shopping and selecting bottled tea and coffee and put them in our shopping cart. Because I really needed to drink something so I opened one of those that we were buying and drank a bit and put it back in our shopping cart. We moved on to the rice and grain area. That's when we stopped by a security. We were yelled at and they said some people o... read more
Used to be better I would have given this $10 annual membership Japanese grocery store a 4-stars before but lately I must say it's just a mediocre place to shop for Japanese food and some every day item. It's so obvious they are desperately trying to increase the price and their customer service sucks! There's almost no point in buying a membership since the saving can't justify the $10 like it used to can.
Everything costs .10 cents more in 2005 I used to recommend this store to anyone who wants to explore the world of Japanese cultures. Not only food, but they also offer furnitures and variety of kitchen/everyday items for $10 membership fee a year. I noticed since Jan 2005, all item in store costs .10 cents more and there are not as much special saving items as before. Things also go on sale less frequently. I can definitely see that they are trying to make more profits these days. If this continues, I will not renew my memb... read more
Marukai has LOADS of Japanese goods! You can find just about any Japanese food here. There are also great Japanese gifts, home furnishings and appliances. There's also a small section with foods from Hawaii! Saimin, macadamia nuts, cookies! The only drawback would be that you have to pay a membership fee, but it's worth it.
The place for Japanese food and products in Los Angeles. Mass market grocery store which carries almost every Japanese food imaginable, from dry goods and supplies to fresh sashimi. Great place to pick up extremely high quality, fresh sashimi without paying sushi bar prices. Requires a yearly membership, but well worth it if you use lots of Japanese ingredients or food. They also carry appliances like rice cookers, ceramics, and traditional japanese clothing.
Marukai Market has a 4.6 star rating with 4,171 reviews.
Marukai Market is closed now. It will open at 9:00 a.m.
