Marukai is a Japanese Hawaiian grocery store. I like this branch because they have a food court.. I usually shop here before going to Mitsuwa for items I can't find here.

Compared to Mitsuwa Japanese supermarker, you can find things much cheaper at Marukai than Mitsuwa but Marukai requires paid membership. As far as food court, Mitsuwa is much better; more choices of restaurant.

let's pay for it first before you drink or eat anything at the store. I think it's just a matter of manner and common sense to not to drink anything that you haven't paid for. I'm pretty sure they weren't as much concerned about stealing as they were about manner and image of the store. If you're thirsty, you should pay for it first and drink it. Is that so hard to do?

The staff are rude and the price is higher that other location's My husband and I are Marukai members and one time we went to this location and had an incident with the staff. We were shopping and selecting bottled tea and coffee and put them in our shopping cart. Because I really needed to drink something so I opened one of those that we were buying and drank a bit and put it back in our shopping cart. We moved on to the rice and grain area. That's when we stopped by a security. We were yelled at and they said some people o... read more

awful service, low quality products, – This market is very popular for Japanese and Japanese american. I went there a couple weeks ago, and got surprized. The fresh product had mold, some items were expired, there was a long line of customer service. second floor was like swap shop, I talked the elder y lady whose name was sejuko at customer service, she cound't speak English at all, most workers there coulnd't.. she was even rude, she never said thank you very much to me and other customers. How difficult was that!! shame o... read more

Used to be better I would have given this $10 annual membership Japanese grocery store a 4-stars before but lately I must say it's just a mediocre place to shop for Japanese food and some every day item. It's so obvious they are desperately trying to increase the price and their customer service sucks! There's almost no point in buying a membership since the saving can't justify the $10 like it used to can.
