Dr. Martinelli cares immensely for his patients. I have known him for a very long time & he has never disappointed me. I wouldn’t even consider using a different orthopedic surgeon. His skills are excellent & I have always done well under his care. Jan, RN

Dr. Martinelli is an excellent physician- caring and careful. My primary care physician recommended him, and I have been extremely happy with his care over the past few years.
My family & I have known Dr. Martinelli since he started with Association of Alexandria Orthopedists, Commonwealth Orthopedists & now OrthoVirginia; 23 years. He is one of the best Orthopedists in the area & has an excellent reputation. He may appear to be a bit abrupt at times which can be off-putting, however, he is extremely knowledgeable about his procedures which instills confidence in the patient. Just needs a little softer demeanor at times. Love him!

I am giving Dr. Martinelli 3 stars because he has, in the past, made the right decision for other injuries. The most recent, however, sealed my decision to seek out another orthopedic surgeon. Basically he looked at my MRI images (in the moment, despite my having told the office I was sending images their way, they didn't have them read prior to my appointment) and said there was fluid build up but nothing concerning. Sent me back to sports. 2nd & 3rd opinions is tear to syndesmosis. Concerning.
Dr Martinelli has performed several procedures on me, as well as patching up a few broken bones. I trust him completely. He is smart, funny and not anxious to operate unless I need it. He treats me like a person, and remembers me. I've been seeing him for over 16 years, and have referred many to him who adore him as well. Always explains things in plain language and gives me the time I need.
Dr. Martinelli has completed two surgeries for me in the last two years--torn meniscus in my knee and a shoulder dislocated in a beach accident. I couldn't ask for a better, more caring, or more congenial surgeon. He is thorough, and reminds me at every visit of what I need to do to help with my healing. He answers my questions and makes sure I have what I need to recover. I feel lucky to have found him.
Arrogant. Uncaring. Does not listen to the patient. Did not explain my condition adequately. Saw him once. Never again.
