Dr. Howerton became my GYN in 1981. In 2005 I found myself needing a hysterectomy. Before performing the surgery we had a thorough consultation about removing or keeping my ovaries. We both made our points of view and ultimately she left the decision up to me. As a surgeon, I think she’s brilliant. She has never rushed a visit and is kind enough to listen to my woes or stories of my grandchildren. In short, I think she’s precious. I’ll continue to drive 100 miles one way for my appointments until she retires.
General Observation and Opinion: Who knew that if you work hard for 25 years and finally retire...one generally has to take Medicare as their insurance to even make retirement a reality ? What I am learning, too, is that even if you pay more for a great supplemental plan ...Doctors possibly will treat you way differently even after years of devotion and trust.
