They tried to fluff me off by sticking me with Dr. Stephen’s PA without my prior knowledge or consent. The guy didn’t not even has the decency to introduce himself. It’s a veritable meat market over there. They are clearly overbooked and understaffed. Avoid them like the plague!
Have seen Dr Stephen for a few years now. Takes his time to listen, you never feel rushed and he explains in detail anything you need to know.
Dr. Stephen is director of spine surgery at Orlin and Cohen after being a surgeon at Stony Brook Hospital for years. Did his residency in Orthopedics at Stony Brook and a fellowship in spine surgery and instrumentation at Stony Brook University Medical Center. I had a spinal emergency snd was unable to walk. I went to Stony Brook and asked for him. He was not on call yet his resident called him and he came within minutes, gave me an MRI and I had emergency surgery within hours. Dr. M. Stephen has performed "eleven" spinal fusion surgeries on me and I have always trusted him to perform these surgeries. He doesn't talk much, I just know though that what he does say or speak of is right to the point. I highly recommend this doctor.
My uncle used Dr Stephen - and after a very successful surgery (and now also finding myself in pain beyond belief) I went to see him as well. He is very open and honest and didn’t push me to do anything I wasn’t comfortable doing. Simply put - he’s a good guy - my hand surgeon recommended him. I had a blown disc L4 - in crippling pain - I thought my life was over. I had a laminectomy Oct 2016. I was back to work Jan 2017 - he saved my life literally. Today I’m as healthy pain free guy found whatever sport I want. I can’t help but highly recommend him.
After meeting several surgeons I decided to go with Dr. Stephen. He made me feel comfortable right away and was the only surgeon that didn't try to rush me into surgery. He did a great job with my discectomy.
Found him to be kind, patient, and very knowledgeable. Spent a great deal of time with me explaining my condition and procedures necessary to address my situation (I went to him for a 2nd opinion consult for surgery). Much more comfortable with my impending surgery, and would use him in the future. Highly recommend Dr. Stephen!
