slow and expensive delivery, mediocre food. i ordered maria's, and used their delivery service. it took 45 minutes for it to get here, and when it arrived, the fettucine alfredo was NOT hot (barely even room temperature)... it was also very runny and the sauce tasted like it was from a jar. the "garlic bread" was made on a sandwich roll, and tasted/felt very stale. i've had better garlic bread at pizza hut. Also, i felt that the $6 delivery charge was excessive, especially in light of how long it took to get here. $30 wasted... read more
Great place This a wonderful place to go with the family. Nice atmosphere and good service most of the time. Very good food.
Rudeness Its ok Italian. The food was sub par. Kinda bland. The service at the pico location was not very good. My roommate and I came in nearing the end of the night and were greated with rudeness and snobish hostess. The waiter took ages just to get us water and even longer to get us our check. Worst italian experience ever.
Always there for the needy I grew up right across the street from Maria's Italian Kitchen. The food is not all that good but they look out for the locals and give free specials to those who they know. That's why I love the owner. You'll never starve in Van Nuys.
Nice local Italian Restaurant Best Italian food in the area. Love the salad and the pasta is served piping hot. Full bar with speciality drinks, also. It's a pefect spot for a business lunch.
yummy! i love maria's kitchen! the servings are huge and the prices are decent. the waiters/waitresses are all really nice at this location and the garlic bread is amazing. the pastas and salads are all really good too!
Good food.. a little pricey though I went here two times during the last month and they sure didn't disappoint me and my guests. The dinner was crowded, but we didn't have to wait - the service was slow but the food was good, though a little too oily. The next time at lunch, I tried their pasta primavera (on the lighter side menu) and it was served as a pleasant surprise with tons of rightly steamed veggies and the littlest of oils, over a decent portion of pasta. The Best What are some of these people talking about? The food here is some of the best in the SGV. Some times the services can be a little slow but only because it is so popular. Maybe some of the other reviewers think that good Italian food is little Ceasars Pizza and do not know what to do with good food.
My Favorite I have been eating at Marias for years and have never been disappointed. I am able to bring friends and family to a meal with the confidence that they too will have a new favorite Italian Restraunt.
