Gorgeous decor, solid service but mixed results on the menu itself. The palak chat has a bit too much tamarind and the sweetness drowned out the other flavors, but the texture of the dish from the crisp spinach was still enjoyable. The vegetable and meat curries we had (I unfortunately forgotten which ones) were pretty pedestrian and didn't live up to the server's hyped recommendation. This felt like a stepdown from Rasika, not sure there was enough to merit a return for me but doesn't preclude a try from others.
Very good Indian restaurant. The service is top class. And the decor is nice. The food is really good. Especially the seafood curries. Very good addition to the DC Indian food scene.
Quite the disappointment, this place. Felt like a place that wants to yuise itself to be an authentic malabar restaurant. Malabar is a specific place in North Kerala a state in the southern most tip of India. A place known for its boldness in trying multiple flavors and going wild with its food. And yet, this place has some of the best things on its menu and yet shies away with nurturing those dishes with its true flavors.
