I’ve heard about maid-Rite for years so yesterday my husband and I were in the area and decided stop and try our first maid-rite sandwiches... we were extremely underwhelmed. With the famous reputation of the facility we were expecting to bulled over with a unique, rare and exceptional tasting sandwich but found a disappointing plain sandwich that frankly had no taste to it. After a few bites in we looked at each other and said “these are the FAMOUS maid-rite sandwiches...?”
As always....amazing!
Recommended by a former resident, had the original maid-rite sandwich and some spicy pickle chips. A line of cars down the street and out the door is a good sign.
One of the best childhood memories I have is picking up maid rites and going to the park around the corner and watching the swans swim , Sunday we got there too early (before they opened) and we checked out the park with no swans sadly ! but our maid rites were fantastic! we bought $114 worth to bring family back to Indianapolis... also they now take cards !! and the kids that were working with extremely nice - never had rude service and been coming here for 40+ years !
Been a family tradition for years! Love the cheese-rites and, in case you haven't heard, their malts are wonderful as well.
