Madame Tussauds Outside of the fact that it is rediculously expensive for what it is Madame Tussauds still is a fun place to visit. Save your visit for when you have a friend from out of town and then head down and tourist out. Bring a camera as you will end up wanting to take pictures even if you aren't normaly a picture taker. PROS: Fun CONS: Expensive
House of Wax Yes Virginia there is a was museum and it's not all that. The exhibits are boring and it's way too short. Plus the admission price is ridiculous. It's over $25 just to see famous people in wax figures! Stick with taking your picture with the wax figure of Samuel L. Jackson that's standing outside. It's free and it will give you a good laugh.
Really awesome! Although a bit scary to kids! I loved it! Although it scared my son a little - some of the figures were SO life like... I half expected to see the rise and fall of their chest cavities!
Interesting but not worth the money This is a wax museum filled with life-like celebrities and people throughout history. There are several floors of exhibits. They really do look real and they encourage you to take lots of pictures. The problem was that I couldn't find anyone I would want to take my picture with. It was fun to see, but I didn't take a single picture and I think for the same, if not lower admission price, I could have went to a different museum in the city and had more fun. PROS: Take picture with famous peo... read more
Genuinely enjoyable Although admission price is high, (at least that cuts down on the crowds!) it is worth it to see and take pictures of this spectacle of wax celebrities. Where else can you shakes hands with the likes of Oprah and Brad Pitt? Amusing for adults and thrilling for teenagers, it is fun for the whole family. Great photo ops. Watch out for the weird movie they show at the end. PROS: Unique, fun for whole family CONS: Pricey
The place for pictures You can go right up to the wax figures and take pictures with them. There are no barriers around these figures and interaction is encouraged. I went with a few friends and spent half a day there taking crazy pictures. The wax figures are very life like. The only drawback is that it costs about $30 to go. If you can't afford to go inside they have a couple wax figures in the lobby that you can take pictures with for free PROS: Photo Ops CONS: Expensive
madame tussauds wax museum this museum is really wonderful. the figures are for the most part life like, and the over all setup of the place is great. although a little pricey, it is well worth it for the photos and experience. mostly containing celebrities, there is a small area where madame tussaud herself is shown at the beginning of her career. PROS: CONS: pricey
Stiff Celebrities I'm still not sure who came up with the bright idea to have wax figures of celebrities and put them in a museum, but I wish they hadn't. It's just silly. It's even sillier seeing people taking pictures with these wax figures. I would much rather walk around NYC and enjoy the sites than to look at a bunch of wax stars. The admission price is highway robbery. Don't waste your time here - go to a real museum like the Museum of Natural History on the upper west side - that will be money well spent.
Very Good Museum This is a whole-family experience museum, somewhere where people can go again and again. The wax statues are amazingly lifelike, to the point where you can't determine what you look like. Certain exhibits stay the same; others constantly change. Pictures are allowed, and the entire museum is very hands-on and entertaining, including an American Idol karaoke exhibit where Simon gives you real-live criticism. Prices are bit high, but overall this is a ton of family fun!
