I visited for a spa afternoon. I did not stay at the hotel. There are many good things about this place especially the beautiful grounds and the excellent friendly service. The spa is located off the pool area and so one should stop at the front desk for directions and a key to the pool. I went on a Saturday afternoon on a beautiful day and so the pool itself was full of people including lots of kids. Not too surprising given it is a hotel. But not a peaceful place to relax. Arrival & Staff The arrival tone was set beautifully. The welcome desk provided a genuine walkthrough of the property with map in hand and greeted us with a generous pour. Baggage staff were attentive and thorough, and the text communication system was responsive throughout the stay — a small operational detail that makes a big difference. The MacArthur place is a fabulous boutique hotel a short walk from the square in downtown Sonoma. The rooms are beautiful and the fireplace under the TV was a perfect end to a day of wine tasting. There are tons of details and features in the rooms including heated floors in the bathroom. There is a nice restaurant on property called Layla and a coffee shop called the Porch.
