I got screwed! Next step: small claims court. – This guy is awful... I had him do a clutch job on my car and, when it started squeaking immediately afterwards, he refused to fix it and sent me to the dealership for repair. It cost me $130 to have the dealership document that it was, in fact, Eddie's fault that it wasn't working right. Eddie eventually fixed the problem but refused to reimburse me for the $130 I had to spend in order to compel Maax to fix the problem. Despite the California Bureau of Automotive Repair recomme... read more
I got burned – Here's my advice for anyone thinking of using Maax Transmission: drop your pants, bend over, grab your ankles – then you'll be well prepared for what you’ll experience before you're done dealing with eddie kang. He has a smooth exterior, claims to be saving his customers money, freely gives generous warranties. Like the one he gave me on an engine repair. The car broke down and was towed to his shop 24 days after the repair. That's when I found his warranty and his word are absolutely worthless. I lost $1,400 ... read more
I have a large work truck that had some transmission problems. I went to Maax based on a recommendation of another auto repair shop. The owner and I test drove the truck and he though it might be minor but asked me to bring it back in during the week for his tech to take apart the bottom pan and have a look. He said he would only charge me $20 to diagnose it. The tech found the transmission to be beyond repair and I needed a rebuild. He quoted a very fair price for rebuild at $1100 with a year warranty. He also offered a rem... read more
decent repairs at a fair price – I received good service and repair. I recommended this shop to two of my friends. He was recommended by a third friend to me. These repairs were varied, not just transmission services. This is a small repair shop, not fancy but I found the owner to be honest, flexible and pretty fast in turning around the repair he did for me. My friends really liked his work too.
Difficulty in getting repair to satisfaction – This mechanic does not want to fix any work to the customer's satisfaction and constantly defers any questions regarding his repair work to car dealerships to correct any problems that may have occurred while he was fixing the problem. That is, he supposedly fixes your transmission, when problems still persist associated with or just doing a poor repair job, he refers customer to a car dealership rather than fixing the problem.
Maax Transmission has a 4.6 star rating with 45 reviews.
