We Had A Good Time – As tourists, we walked in off the street on a Thursday night without expectations. We sat at the bar and got great service. I ordered a Pinot Noir, but the young bar tender had me try it first. He then recommended a comparably priced one that was much better. Thanks! The Coca-Cola pork shoulder was quite good and the panacotta was awesome. Because it was raining, it was nice to watch for cable cars and time our exit so we could jump on one when we were finished. We'd go back.

Luella - always yummy – I've been to Luella several times and in my opinion the food is getting yummier and yummier. The pasta bolognese was a huge hit at our table of 16 as well as the fava bean salad, salt cod and the pork and steak dishes are not to be missed. Ben knows how to cook meat. Luealla is a gem of a restaurant not to be missed.

Not great... – Hyde street in Russian Hill houses some charming restaurants. Unfortunately this is not one of them. Luella isn't suer what it wants to be. Is it a lounge catering to the ultrahip? Is it a neighborhood restaurant serving home favorites for reasonable prices? It's neither unfortunately. Decorwise it seems a lotlike Coco500. A former stodgy restaurant turned into a sleek dining establishment. However the food is too limited to make it work. Everything seems to come in ramekins. Salt cod, a caponata like dish, th... read more

Wonderful...food, service, ambiance! – This is one place that you have to visit at least once. I planned a small birthday dinner party for my sister. They had no problem taking 8 of us, seated us right away, our server was super friendly and attentive. On top of that, everyone loved their meal, the food is remarkable. To start, I tried the salt cod...delicious! Others had the scallops and ahi tacos. The coca-cola pork is wonderful- a must try. I highly recommend eating here!

Hip Neighborhood Joint – Luella is top notch when it comes to casually (not tragically) hip neighborhood restaurants in SFO. The food and service are fantastic, although the joint can be a little on the noisy side. Ben and Rachel make sure everyone feels at home, but this is no amateur kitchen. The culinary creations are sophisticated, but with down to earth ingredients. Check out Luella for dinner, drinks, or the vibrant decor.

A charming Russian Hill eatery serving rich Mediterranean fare. – The Scene The L-shaped space welcomes neighborhood locals with dim lighting and walls splashed in earth tones. Mirrors above a light-green banquette reflect a petite bar area, where gray-haired couples sip wine next to 30-somethings. Further back, a floor manager scopes the scene near a semi-exposed kitchen, swooping in to assist waitstaff. The Food Generous portions of mostly southern European dishes comprise a rotating menu. Diners craving a salt fix should ... read more

Great food! – We ended up at Luella on a whim and were pleasantly surprised. The mussels in Pernod and white wine broth were scrumptious, as was the salted cod appetizer. Our main courses were even more delightful - seared scallops (albeit slightly overcooked) on a fluffly bed of mashed potatoes smothered in garlic and lemon zest...we even ordered the sauteed brussel sprouts as an extra side. No room for dessert, but the menu was tempting. Ambience was chilled, although the lights could do with a dimming. Beware of overeatin... read more
