Dogs and kids friendly... – My 8 year daughter's favorite place to go on Saturday with her Dad. She loves the soups and the BLT's. Also the Thomas Kemper root beer. She doesn't quite know how much her Dad enjoys the brewskey, but that's OK.
The unfriendly Labrador! – The "Lucky Labrador" was a huge disappointment! The drafty wearhouse amosphere and the food, service and selection were all well below average. Their menu selection was limited and the food we had wasn't all that great. The employees we delt with were rude and very unfriendly. Casually the Best! – What can I say. It's the most friendly feeling brewpub around! No pretention, just good beer, good food, and good company.
The Dogs Have It! Best Pub in Town – The Lucky Lab is the most relaxing, best atmosphere for any brew pub in the Portland area. The beer is handcrafted and sold only at their pubs and you always find smiles on the customer's faces. The beer is quite good, notably their Black Lab Stout. They also have a very good and reasonable priced pub fare that are mostly vegetarian. And of course, where else can you drink beer and enjoy it with "Man's Best Friend"???
Concrete can be comfortable – The Lab is for real people; those who enjoy the company of their friends, their friend's dog and the folks at the next table. I rely on the chicken bento with mild peanut curry sauce and the Black Lab Stout. The chicken can sometimes be overcooked but the sauce just kicks. Leave your makeup and cologne at the door, this is a place to BE, not be seen. Show up at the annual Dogtoberfest and wash dogs for charity. Great people, great owners, good food, good beer, no corporate scum...
Beers in the great outdoors – Definitely a place for dog lovers, whether you own one or not. Get a bowl of peanuts, a pithcer of porter and grab a table out back. You'll learn more dog's names than you care to, but it's a fun place.
Not just for dogs... – Lucky Lab is a casual place with a decent enough dog-friendly patio. The interior is really spacious, with tall ceilings sporting exposed materials. This is a good bet for large groups or families with small children. Look for a fine selection of beer and yummy sandwiches. Definitely order the bento (spicy isnt too spicy; its just right) its the best Ive had in town.
