great beer, good food, good people – Lucky Baldwin's is by far the best place to stop for a drink in Old Town Pasadena. The beer selection is vast and delicious, and the bartenders and waitstaff are more than happy to guide you through some of the more exotic selections and help you choose a perfect pint. Smells like urine – That says it all, doesn't it? If you get there early enough to sit outside you will be fine. It is a good place to have a beer. If you can't get a seat outside go elsewhere, it smells like urine inside. The other thing that turned me off was the fact that I had to hoist my slacks up to use the ladies room because there was so much liquid (I don't know what it was) on the floor. sit back and have a beer! – lucky baldwin is a very relaxed bar that is all about the beer. they often have an IPA festival or other specials going on. if a pint is too much, order a half-pint. it's a favorite spot for many of us here so it fills up, but if you stick around, a table will usually open up. they also have a wide selection of english bar food-- i really like the fish and chips.
On target – GO!! Great beer selection, wine selection and food (corish pasties (order them)) Are you looking to chill with you're girlefrind or bros this is the place. A British pub in an Alley there is Out side and inside seating, also have a thirld level that seats about 10 and bring yer darts. Juke box is cool cassic stuff. Can be romantic on the weekday nights (smaller crowds).
beer lover's heaven – Great selection of belgians... Great selection from a local brewery (craftsman) which makes a wonderful amber, IPA and a very interesting belgian dubbel style loaded with sage. Also has a great selection of bottles. In theory, they don't offer tastes of taps, but we had one bartender who was very agreeable. He even opened a bottle of a belgian christmas ale they had on tap to make sure the draft was still good (we bought the bottle, but he wouldn't sell us the draft because it had died). Baldwin Alley – Baldwins has an unique location, off a alley and in a former horse stable. Beer selection is from all over, belgium to ireland (that's all over right). Summertime is sweet with live music in the afternoons and taters and mash. The people who come her are after a respite from the commerce heavy colarado. It's a good place to hoist a pint and be friends.
A beer lovers paradise – If you know beer, this is the best place in L.A. to get one. Unlike most places that carry "imports" like Newcastle, and Heine, LB's carrys the best Belgians. From Piraat to Lucifer the beer here is remarkable. Especially in Feb. when they have their Belgian beer festival. A definate must for someone that appreciates great beer.
good times – I have been to Lucky Baldwins quite a few times. One time it was for my 25th birthday....got a bit loaded and had a great time and even convinced the waitress to slam a chocolate cake in my face (every mans dream). Another time was when Korea was playing Spain in the 2nd or 3rd round of the World Cup back in 2002. Korea cheated but it was still an enjoyable experience. The beers great, the place is chill. What else can you ask for?
Don't Blame Me For Ordering Off Your Menu! – My fiance ordered a cider listed on the menu. The waitress wanders off. We wait. 15 minutes later, another waitress comes over, and in a very rude tone say: "We don't carry that cider. We haven't carried that cider in years." Her tone was so accusatory that we were taken aback. If you're out of something, fine. That's understandable and we'll order something else.
