Worst Service EVER – Heard a few good things about this place, so i tried it out last night for restaurant week. Now I've heard that you don't get the best service during restuarant week, but I've been to most places in Boston for restaurant week and have had awesome service, so that isn't true. Where to begin: Our waiter i thought was in slow motion. We were supposed to have 4 courses: appetizer, pasta, entree and dessert. Well it takes him 20 minutes to bring the bread, finally he brings the appetizer after 30 mins. Then, ... read more
Why this place has more than 4 stars is beyond me. EXTREMELY UNFRIENDLY MANAGEMENT-OWNERSHIP. Classes on personal conduct may be useful for the management...as during my meal, I witnessed management speaking to its staff in a manner that is well below standards for even treating a human being. Made my experience( and my wife's) very unpleasant. The only reason this restaurant may do so well is that it is virtually the first restaurant on Hanover if you are coming from Commercial Street and pedestrians may be tired of walking... read more
Icky food – This place always has a line so I assumed that the food was good. I was so wrong. I had the Lobster Ravioli, which was a special for the night, and it was awful! It tasted like the restaurant bought it in bulk from BJs and just heated it up and the portion was very small. Way too small and too gross for a $25.00 entree. Service was bad as well. I had to flag the waiter down repeatedly for refills on water and a second glass of wine. Pass Lucias and go to Emedios next door if you want good Italian food.
great for a date night – This website had recommended I make a reservation, but when we got there, it turned out that wasn't really necessary (6PM on a Saturday). We ate in the downstairs dining room which was cold, until the heat kicked in. It was a beautiful room with mirror all around the room. Our waiter was pleasent and explained each and every special, which I appreciate (instead of a verbal speed-through of food). The portions, however, were somewhat small compared to the price tag. It's a decent value. But my boyfrie... read more
Not good for large (10 or more) parties – When I arrived with reservations they did not have a table ready for us. They squeezed half of us into a small table while the rest of us stood around the table waiting for other tables to be added for 15minutes. Called ahead with a wine and appetizer order that I wanted served to the guests who arrived before the guest of honor. They succeeded with the wine, but lost my appetizer order. I finished my whole entre before our last guest ever received hers. The food was good. I give it ... read more
Awesome Time – I went to Lucia on a Saturday night and had a great time. We had the bruschetta, chicken broccoli ziti, and mussels over linguine, all which were excellent. I had a glass of pinot grigio, which had a lot of flavor, and I really enjoyed it. It is a little small in there, and we sat about two inches away from another table, but it was so loud, so you couln't hear anyone else's conversation. The waitstaff was extremely friendly, but they don't really check up on you, and I had to wait to get my water refilled and... read more
Great Party – We recently celebrated our daughter's 21st birthday at Lucia's. Since all plans were made long-distance over the phone, we were a bit apprehensive of showing up from out of town for a dinner of 25, even thought we had been there several years ago. The reservation manager assured us everything would be fine. It was that and more. We were treated royally with our own private room and personalized menu. The waitresses went out their way to serve and please out unruly crowd of 20-somethings. Not only was the food s... read more
North End stalwart endures thanks to arresting artscapes and a strong focus on regional cuisine. – The Scene Lucia doesn't look like much has changed since the Frattaroli family opened it in 1977. Brightly colored murals tattoo every inch of wall and ceiling space in the main dining room, which has a distinctly retro feel. The downstairs dining room is less visually stimulating but no less lively. Perfunctory service is leisurely to a fault but accurate. The Food Once diners get over the murals, all attention is needed to co... read more
good food OK service – This little restaurant deep on beautiful Hanover St. offered everything I could have wanted, it took me a long time to decide on a meal. The food came quickly and beautifully prepared. The only thing that was wrong was the service. While it was fast and efficient, the server did the bare minimum, just taking the order and dropping off the food. Could have used a little personality to go along with the ambiance of the restaurant.
