Located at the heart of Hanover Street, Ristorante Lucia is a North End institution. Opened in 1977, Lucia was the first to bring authentic Italian cuisine to Boston's oldest neighborhood. We continue to combinetraditional favorites with innovative new dishes in our distinctive atmosphere. Filippo Frattaroli, who opened the restaurant shortly after emigrating to Boston from the Abruzzo region of Italy, is proud to welcome new guests along with those who have been visiting Lucia since the beginning.

I've lived in the North End for almost 10 years and have tried most of the restaurants up and down Hanover, Lucia's is the place I always recommend to friends and family visiting Boston. The food is always very good. If you're looking for traditional Italian fare at a reasonable price, this is the place to eat.
DO NOT EAT HERE - bland and putrid – Read the last reviewer's comments. They are very true. Here was my experience. My girlfriend and I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon to try an Italian restaurant in the North End. The menu looked promising and there were plenty of seats so we went in. Once seated, we were quickly brought water, which unfortunately was the highlight of the meal. Once we were seated and had ordered, I looked up some reviews but it was too late. This would be a putrid experience. We ordered bruschetta as an... read more
Do not make this mistake! – If I could give less than 1 star for this ridiculous establishment, I certainly would do so. I rushed home tonight after dining at Lucia just to write a review so that no one else has a similar experience. I arrived tonight with a friend to dine at around 7:30pm. The service from the start was pushy, though there were only 3 other occupied tables. The food was mediocre at best; the meal began with a bland salad, and progressed to a chicken dish and a seafood dish, which were accompanied by pasta f... read more
Sometimes Locals Need to Get Out of Town More – My girlfriend and I were visiting from NY and wanted to find some good Italian food in the North End. We had been driving around for a while looking for a parking spot. We asked a local walking a Bassett Hound which Restaurant he thought was good. He pointed us to Lucia and said "they've been around for over 30 years". The calamari was overcooked and the gravy was terrible. It burned our throats from too much spice and made us feel sick. We asked for a more mild sauce and it wa... read more
Outraged, this has never happened to me, DON'T BOTHER – At first this restaurent seemed like a good choice, visitIng the Boston area from San Francisco we decided to give this restaurant a try. My son and I sat down and ordered a very basic meal, salad and entre meanwhile everyone around us would come and go and we had yet to be served even our salad, I asked our waiter Massimo when we might be served, just a few minutes more he replied after 40 minutes we finally had our salad, the meal was awful, the pasta was so hot and o... read more
The Best Restaurant in Boston – I have eaten -everywwheeere- in this city, and nowhere leaves me more satisfied than Lucias. More than reasonable prices. Beautiful, authentic and cozy atmosphere. Knowledgeable and friendly staff and management (they even stayed open very late for my 21st bday). Great wine list. And most importantly, the food is AMAAAAZING !!!! There is nothing on the menu you will not like, and the chicken marsala is better than any I've ever had, in Italy, in NY's little Italy, at my Italian best friends gr... read more
Fantastic – I took my girlfriend to Lucia last night. It was the first time either of had eaten there, and we were very impressed. Our server Christine(a) was great. she recommended a veal dish for me that came with a lemon sauce and i was not disapointed. my girlfriend had a chicken dish that also really enjoyed. if you're dining on the north end i highly recommend Lucia, and Christine(a)
Strongly recommend to everybody – This is our first trip to Boston and everywhere we go, we try our best to find the best Italian. This time,we had no resutaurant info in advance,so me and my wife just walked around to seek the real taste of Italy using our six sense. Lucia located almost at the edge of North End and my wife insisted to get in there without any special reason. Since we were not so hungry, ordered just two pasta which is Bolonese and Bongore without expectation..but the dishes were both incredible tasty and th... read more
Loved it – I have been disappointed with many restaurants during restaurant week, but Lucia was definitely not one of them! We arrived and were prompty greeted in a very friendly manner. The entrance is a little awkward (it's as if you are walking into the service area), but the decor makes up for it. This place is so quaint and perfect for a romantic date! Our server was so attentive and actually cared that we enjoyed our experience. The food was great - delicious artichoke as my appetizer, awesome risotto stuffed chicken a... read more
