Extraordinary High End Vintage Clothing and Jewelry – The owner of Lulu's at the Belle Kay has wonderful taste and a great eye for unusual vintage jewelry, special occasion dresses and coats from all eras, through the 1980's. I have a high regard and appreciation for these pieces that have lasted throughout the years. Mostly excellent. – I love all of the food that I have had here. It is always excellently consistent. My problem is that the bad service is also consistent. I have gone here for years because the food is really that good, and I love the atmosphere but the wait staff is rude, slow and don't seem to be interested in you having a good dining experience. MAJOR disapointment – The reviews written by Sielaff68 & meowmix13 could not be truer! The owner needs to lose her attitude (let?s face it these dresses are not NEW), the prices need to come down and the owner need not pre-qualify the customer!!!! Summing it up?the owner needs to go!!!!
Gorgeous Vintage!! – Highly recommended for beautiful and unusual things. The clothes are in excellent condition and they have a wide range of sizes. I have been to this shop on a few occasions and have yet to purchase but will return as soon as I am in need of a special occassion dress. The girls who work there are knowledgeable friendly and helpful. It is about time that Chicago has a vintage store of this caliber and not the junky flea market type shops that we normally see.
Best Shop to be Treated Poorly – I have tried Lulu's on the Belle Kay as both a shopper and as an owner of vintage pieces I hoped to sell. Both experiences made me regret the effort. As a shopper, I sought to purchase a dress I had seen on display in the window. Aptly titled and conveniently located within stumbling distance of most of South Beach. – In Short This bar's essentially a large square room with piped-in rock music--nothing more and nothing less than a place to get hammered. Ask for the house drink, a combination of Goldschlager and Rumpleminz, fondly known as liquid heroin. As for 12-steppers and pregnant women, the bar offers foosball, video games and pool tournaments.
Ladies Drink Free--REALLY! – I went there on a Wednesday night--when ladies drink well drinks and cheap beers for free! Very nice touch. This is a very "neighborhoody" bar, and a good place to start your night. It reminded me a lot of the bars in Washington, DC. The music is good. Lots of rock, some older rap. Good to listen to. This place is the pits. – If you're in the market for mediocre 50's and 60's dresses at prices that approach absurd, this is your place. As an added bonus, while you are in the store, the owner will brusquely interrogate you about what you are looking for and repeatedly remind you not to touch anything too roughly. I gave this shop three tries, and every time I was completely taken aback by the rudeness of the woman running the place. I won't be going back...until their going out of business sale.
