I moved to La Jolla about a year ago and recently chipped a couple front teeth and needed some bonding work. I called around to a few dentists to ask some questions and the lady that answered the phone (front desk lady) was very polite and didn't get frustrated with all my questions. Dr Lovell is Outstanding.. In this era of cosmetic and implant happy dentists it is very reassuring to know that there are still some very skilled and down to earth Professionals like Dr Lovell. As MD myself I get very tired of the ones that want to do everything and not just assess your status and give you a simple evaluation. Staff excellent, on time and very personable. Now that I've had to go to different dentists due to insurance, I appreciate Dr Lovell even more. He never overtreats or recommends unecessary procedures. This is why I've joined this service in order to find someone on my insurance list who won't want to fix every tooth in my head as 2 other dentists have. Dr Lovell was recommended by one of his hygienists who is also excellent.

Dr. Lovell is THE BEST, most straightforward, real dentist I've ever met. He tells it like it is. If you want to be lied to and overcharged for services you don't need, DO NOT see Lovell, but... If you want to be told the real truth about your dental health, the work you really need, or receive the utmost care and concern as a patient, then he is your man, and his office is where you should go. Friendly, honest, polite, nice, truthful, concerned, caring... words that describe the doc.

I was referred to Dr. Lovell by a co-worker who has been seeing him for over 25 years, she even made appointments around her return trips home when she lived in Europe! Personnaly I think he the best! If I could give him 5 stars I would. I often refer him to others. He built a front upper bridge from me in March 2005, after my old one broke. He does not do extractions, but refers to Dr Devers for this, he's down the hall in the same building. Why oh why won't my insurance cover Dr. Lovell??? He is the BEST! The dental hygeniest took her time and cleaned my teeth like they've never been cleaned before. Dr. Lovell was easygoing, friendly, and spent time afterwards looking to make sure there was nothing else to be concerned about. He also referred me to someone to have my wisdom teeth removed. Referral was TERRIFIC!!! I am going to nominate him to be included in my insurance plan. He seriously is one of the best dentists I have ever had.

Dr Lovell is one of the Best of the Best. He's very knowledgeable, competent and skilled in addition to being an all around nice guy. You can't ask for more. His practice is complemented with friendly technicians who take as much pride in their work as Dr. Lovell. No lectures, just sound, helpful advice. He has been our family dentist for years. We've referred many pople to him. All have been pleased.
