Any surgery is scary but Dr. Rizio explained the procedure and what I could expect afterwards. I felt at ease going into a procedure that I knew would be difficult. I have never felt rushed or not listened to. His staff is always professional and I have gladly recommended him to people looking for a good orthopedic doctor/surgeon!

Business response:

From RWJBH Medical Group:Thank you for sharing your positive experience with Dr. Rizio, we appreciate your feedback!

Just had my first visit with Dr. Rizio for a knee injury. He and his staff are fantastic! He is caring, conservative in treatment, and I would highly recommend him!

From first impression of Dr. Rizio to post-surgery to follow-up to release, 5 stars! Dr. Rizio was my second opinion who immediately requested additional and more thorough imaging of my shoulder. His diagnosis was a rotator cuff tear of my right shoulder which needed surgery to repair. In addition to his knowledge, his kindness-caring and patient bedside manner gave me extra confidence in him. My surgery was completely successful and smooth. This was not a painful surgery and recovery was exactly as Dr. Rizio explained. I hi... read more

My husband tore his acl and a partial meniscus tear while playing soccer. We went to another doctor who looked at his mri and told him he didn't even have an injury (we knew by the pain, swelling and instability that he definitely did.) We booked an appointment with Dr Rizio who identified the acl tear (70%!) and discovered the other partial tear. He fully explained the injury and the options available. He was very thorough and kind. We chose surgery and my husband was back on his feet in less than 24 hours post-op. The oper... read more

I tore both of my shoulders and Dr. Rizio performed each surgery. I personally appreciate Dr. Rizio's "bedside manner" as I found him genuinely caring, but also direct and to the point. I don't need someone to caress me until I feel better - I needed a skilled surgeon who could get me back on the mats and Dr. Rizio did exactly that. I remember the office staff left much to be desired in terms of competence and general helpfulness, but I don't think that should detract from a skilled surgeon. If I had a choice between friendl... read more

My visit with Dr. Rizio went well. But I want to say that his staff is excellent! They went out of their way to make certain that I was able to see him on short notice. Then Danielle made certain that I was able to get my MRI scheduled. She went above and beyond to make certain not only that I understood what I needed to get the appointment, but reached out to the MRI facility to confirm that they had all the information that they needed. Danielle is simply wonderful! Dr. Rizio is an excellent judge of character!

Dr. Rizio did a total knee replacement, and fractured my leg during the surgery. The 2 to 4 week recovery for the knee replacement turned into 10 weeks non weight bearing in a wheel chair and 5 months of therapy. I also have 2 screws in my leg, due to the fracture.

My son sustained a labrum tear while away at University out of state and waited 1.5 years before he could fit surgery into his schedule. Dr Rizio was our surgeon of choice as he came highly recommended. From the very first visit, I knew we had made the right choice. He is very professional and courteous besides having excellent surgical skills. He repaired the labral tear and upon further inspection, found another tear in the posterior labrum, which he then repaired, that wasn't picked up on the MRI. I'm so happy we chose Dr... read more
