Shhh! Don't Tell Everybody! :) – Louis 649 is the ultimate neighborhood bar. Good jazz, good beer and exciting wine. Might even be the first neighborhood "jazz" spot...at least around these parts. Never had a bad night here - wish I could spend more here.
The BEST all night HAPPY HOUR – There's great live jazz. Awesome 50% off Spanish wine bottles. Great crowd. You have to come and check this place out. It's a definite must see.
Great mellow jazz bar – I love this bar. Great place to catch up with friends and listen to good jazz. Great service, friendly bartender/owner and the most adorable dog to ever greet you. Definitely worth checking out.
my favorite east village wine bar – I love this bar for its great , but small selection of wines (by the glass - can't beat its changing array of great inexpensive wines) and the accompanying laidback atmosphere with musicians playing most nights (especially popular is the trio on saturday nights which are always packed). It's a great place on weeknights to chill with some friends at the back tables and enjoy the live music. Definitely include this among places to check out in the East Village.
Louis on Tuesday! – Every other Tuesday an incredible jazz guitarrist performs at Louis. He takes requests and always brings along another incredible musician. you gotta come...
Unfriendly owner – The owner yelled at us twice for "talking too loud." This was when there was no band playing and a few of us were just sitting at a table having a calm conversation. The place was almost empty as well. The manner in which the owner spoke to us was very rude and none of us will be going back there.
very low key – small and intimate place. i was there on a thursday night and it was pretty empty (almost dead). great place if you want to talk to friends, not so good if you're out to meet people. the dog is adorable.
Old World Personality, Wonderful Wines! – We were greeted promptly at 7PM by Andrew and of course Reid. Jazz was in the air at Louis. Great wine, great cheeses as well as olives. The atmosphere and service was just how I like it - thanks to the owner, Andrew. I will be sure to visit Louis everytime I make it to the City. Take some time out of your busy day to relax at Louis...what an inspiration.
My favorite – Louis is one of my favorites bars - everyone is so friendly and the wines are the best! And I love the piano playing - makes for a nice, neighborhood haunt.
