Disappointing – The cocktail menu is nice, but that's not all that unique in New York. The music was too loud, the customers seemed to be local barflys for the most part (not the charming kind, either) and I just can't think of any reason to go back when there are so many more fun bars in this city!
cool venue,great drinks, AWFUL BAR-LADY/WAITRESS – WATCH OUT FOR THE TATOOED BARMAID WITH THE EVIL ATTITUDE...... Everybody in my group complained to me about her which tainted but did not ruin a fun night, I don't think she realized some of my guests new the owner relatively well. It was a shame as apart from that Louis was a good experience with very good drinks.
No Live Jazz--Profile needs to be updated – Went all the way down here this summer because we had a great time in 07 when we went here and listed to some live Jazz. The staff was nice, but we would not of went if we knew!
Horrible Service – I have been to this place a couple of times and liked the music there. So on saturday after my birthday dinner with a small group of friends we headed there. Service was very poor, the waitress had a major attitude. We waited for the second round of drinks for too long, finally they came but we were still missing two. The bartender was busy chatting with his friend instead of fixing our drinks. When we got the bill it included 20% gratuity (calculated incorrectly at ~24%). Citysearch Editorial Review – This small bar's minimal, under-construction look springs from mismatched tables, blond wood benches and an untreated concrete floor. Some red bulbs and scattered art spruce it up for the laid back local set--as does the bar's yipping pet pooch. As far as hooch goes, beers from Belgium, New York and Great Britain--don't bother asking for Heineken or Miller Lite--accompany an extensive list of cocktails, single malt scotches, bourbons and international wines.
UNFRIENDLY OWNER/BARTENDER – I DON'T KNOW IF HE WAS JUST A BARTENDER OR A BARTENDER/OWNER AS WELL. BUT WHO EVER HE WAS, HE WAS ETREMELLY DIRESPECTFUL IN THE WAY HE TALKED TO MY FRIENDS AND I AS WE WERE TRYING TO ORDER A DRINK. THE OTHER YOUNGER MALE BARTENDER WAS VERY NICE THOUGH. I WOULD NOT GO BACK TO THIS PLACE EVER AGAIN, NOR WOULD I RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE JUST BECAUSE OF THE SERVICE ALONE FROM THIS ONE INDIVIDUAL.
best live jazz - no cover - just donation; best wine selection – Great place to have port [maybe even a cigar - I'll have to ask] with friends or lover to warm soft jazz...cozy...very very small space but sooooo warm!! I loved the bartender [? owner] and his dog [who was also uber friendly]....I love these hidden little gems in the city...HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
