One of the newest of the fine Italian restaurants located on The Hill, Trattoria Lorenzo's does an admirable job of keeping up the tradition. Start with of a tasty appetizer of ravioli with goat cheese or roasted eggplant. For pasta lovers, try the fettuccine with tomatoes and mushrooms in a garlic cream sauce. Pizzas are always a favorite. Other specialties include grilled mahi mahi and polenta. For dessert, do not miss the tiramisu.

Most of the reviews on Lorenzo's have been on their excellence for their menu, unfortunately, this review is based solely on the differential treatment we received because the person in charge of our party was African American. Yes, we did have reservations and yes, they did have several empty large tables prepared in the main dining area but we were seated in a room away from the main dining room. Our table didn't even have a cloth tablecloth and napkins or set up nicely as the it should have been with reservations. If it h... read more
Like eating with family (if you have family in Milan) – This is one of our favorite restaurants and we dine out 2 to 3 times a week. Over the last 7 years we have shared meals with Larry Fuse and his staff at least 150 times. In that time period most of the servers (Rayetta, Elane, Taylor etc) have remained and they picked up one of the best mixologist in town (Jonie). Every time we go to Lorenzo's we vary what we do. Sometimes we sit at the bar and Jonie pours us some of the best drinks that you can get in St. Louis. I love... read more
Ups and Downs – The best salad in town until.... I've been going to this restaurant since they opened and the menu hasn't changed much. The service is usually attentive (until today). We've had lunch only, never dinner. The last time we went, we waited a good long while for pizza but it came out half-cooked so the 'manager' said next time we come in to ask for himl. We did and he he didn't even look our way. Perhaps the waitress didn't tell him but it's strange that for the first time I had an unshelled pistachio nut in my sa... read more
VEGETARIANS BEWARE!!! – I am ashamed to have trusted this restaurant for so long. After taking my mother to dinner tonight, feel terrible that her birthday was celebrated at a place that charges so much for such a SMALL piece of fish. $20.95 for what was probably 3 ounces! We also seemed to encounter the only wait staff that actually knows what is IN the food. She informed us that the spinach gnocci is made with chicken stock, which is what we have ordered for years. Regardless of our consistent requests for vegetarian optio... read more
Bad Experience! – My boyfriend and I went there for Valentine's day. We expected a short wait, but ended up waiting for 2+ hours for a table (along with everyone else who had a reservation!). By the time we were seated, we were not that hungry. No apology from server or manager at any point. Poor hostesses were nice, but not prepared for such a mess! Bartender was nice enough, but overwhelmed as well. Food was just OK, not worth the wait or price. Obviously, this is only one night out of the year, but it wasn't that great, e... read more
Great atmosphere, less than great entrees! – Lovely Restaurant, great ambiance, but the main courses my wife and I had were both less than what we would have expected. The red snapper was overdone to the point it was hard to cut without a knife, and the risotto tasted like it had been overcooked by an hour! Despite these disappointments, it is still a wonderful venue to visit. Service was prompt and friendly, and appetizers and salads were good. My wife had a Brandy Alexander that was the best I've ever tasted! Except for th... read more
Excellent Food, Service and Cocktails! – Third visit to Lorenzos! Each dinner has been over the top! Food is well worth the price! Exceptional taste, great service and fantastic desserts. Great Cocktails! Best kept secret on the Hill! Try it - you won't be disappointed. We will continue to return..over and over again!
very good – They add an interesting twist to traditional Italian cuisine. The food is excellent, service is great, drinks are generous. The restaraunt itself has a very nice floorplan and is decorated tastefully. Great place for a date.
Restaurant Excellent food and service. They bill themselves as having authentic Italian with a contemporary flare. A little different, but delicious sauce on the spaghetti. Italian seasonings that taste so good are definitely present. A little pricey.
