Best Italian on Westside – By far the best Italian eatery on the Westside. Great food, great service, extensive wine list and romantic setting. If you want true Italian food you have to come to this spot on Montana.

RUDE SERVICE, TERRIBLE FOOD!!!! – I ate lunch here last Friday and left feeling most unsatisfied! The food and service was terrible. I accepted an offer for a glass of red and instead of being presented with a wine list or being made aware of the exorbitant prices I was given a very tiny $18 glass of just ok pinot noir. I ordered a pasta dish with seafood and you'd think for $20 you'd get more than just one shrimp and two mussels. My TINY glass of wine and disappointing pasta cost me close to $50! I NEVER write bad reviews a... read more

What a horrible experience! – I rarely give bad reviews but this place really rubbed me a wrong way. After being seated at the door, where people constantly bumped into our table, we had to ask several times for water, while our waiter was literally picking his nose. We sat in front of our empty appetizer dishes for over 10 minutes, waited for olive oil or vinegar several times and the restaurant wasn't even that busy. Wine was $14 a glass, food was ok, service was the worst!! Romantic dinner quickly turned into a spoiled ev... read more

Great setting, terrible (over-priced) food. – My girlfriend and I were drawn to Locanda Portofino by the elegant outdoor setting and decided to give it a try (we have eaten at several restaurants on Montana and in the greater Santa Monica area). The waiter gave us a confused look when we said we didn't have a reservation (it was a Tuesday night and the restaurant was 1/3 full) but he still allowed us to sit on the front patio. The setting is great. The olive oil with the bread was excellent. However that is about it. I order... read more

good food, but too small and snotty – I heard about this place from a friend and decided to try it for a special night out. My date and i were seated promptly (with reservation) but the tables were very close together so we were bumped by neighboring diners several times. Our waiter was Italian, which add to authenticity, but he gave me attitude because I didn't want wine and was not concerned with service in general. The food was really good but the experience...not so much.

Great Italian Spot – Authentic Italian food. Very cozy atmosphere. Fair priced food. Desserts are awesome and are freshly baked.

Worst Service Ever In LA – After being seated and waiting several minutes without any acknowledgment from a waiter, we were eventually brought water. After several more minutes, we flagged someone down and asked for a waiter. Our salad came, but after that, nothing. The couple next to us ordered, were served, ate, and talked for almost half an hour. Still no food. We flagged down the our waiter, who had returned once the entire time to sell me another glass of wine (our water glasses, meanwhile, were never refilled), and ask... read more

A good find – On a weeknight, my girlfriends and I were looking for a bite to eat before we went to Father's Office. Though Locanda Portofino is in a small strip mall with a dry cleaners and a liquor store on Montana, it looked promising and we ducked in. It was a pleasant surprise. The dining room is small and cozy. There's a patio out front. I ordered the special, which was tagliatelle with scallops and giant shrimp in a light tomato sauce. Delicious. Both my girlfriends were also happy with their entrees. The service was ... read more

Great service – I live in New York but I dine often in Santa Monica for business. And one of my favorite is certainly Locanda Portofino where I find professional stuff,a very wide menu and plenty of specials to choose from every time, and great quality of food besides a wine list very decent. A special spot,a very well kept secret and an ambiance you will not forget.
