Rattan chairs, high ceilings with slow moving fans and potted palms all lend an air of mystique to this French-Vietnamese dining spot. Expansive and elegant, it also features an attractive upstairs lounge. The food is spicy, pungent and well prepared. Try the Tamarind Soup to start, then move onto the house special Ca Chien Saigon-whole red snapper with a spicy sauce. A good wine list is featured and strong Vietnamese coffee will complete your meal. The service is mostly efficient, although at peak times it can be a little s... read more

Good restaurant with expensive price I took my daughter and her friends there for her birthday. The place is nice with French/Vietnamese style decorations but the price is expensive for us. We could have found many Vietnamese restaurants in the areas with less expensive price. However, the atmosphere is upscale, impressive if you want an expensive place for a date or something similar.
Very Disappointing – We had gone to Le Colonial in San Francisco and enjoyed both the food and atmosphere. The New York location sounded perfect for my birthday celebration but I am sorry to say that the food left a lot to be desired. I ordered the duck which was dry and tasteless. The mango sundae was the best part of the meal. Would definitely not go back.
Good food! Highly recommended – This is a very special place for me. I love the food and the people. Never been disappointed. Thanks
Great Restaurant!! – The food and Drinks were Delicious. I went here after getting my hair done. I am glad they recommended Le Colonial. We met some great people and had so much fun!
Cold Food, Bad Service... for $140 – Want to read a horror story... 1)The waiter never asked us if we wanted a drink 2) The appetizer came out cold 3) The wine was bad and was removed 4) The table next to us was given their main course before the appetizer 5) My meat dish came out cold, not warm, cold 6) The bill came to $140 Want my advice: stay as far away as possible from Le Stinko Colonial
Was a waste of my money – We were looking for a restaurant near the 59E59 Theatre before our show. I love Vietnamese food so chose this when given the nearby options. By chance it was also Restaurant Week. The RW menu of appetizer, main course and a mixed sorbet dessert was $35. Ordering an app and main course w/no dessert from the regular menu was basically the same price. Hmmm, I thought. Oh, well. I opted for RW menu. I got the Crispy Duck Rolls with taro, jicama, mint and a nuoc cham dip as the appetizer. My main course ... read more
Unfortunate Decline – The food was terrible, relatively expensive (spent 200 for 3), and the service slow. I dont know if its the economy or a change in management and the chef but you want to take your money somewhere else. I hope they are able to turn it around as it a nice lounge.
Not My Grandma's Pho – I love this place...I have consistently frequented the upstairs lounge for at least 6 years and have never been disappointed. Though I swear by my mother's fish sauce, and the pho at Nha Trang (Chinatown on Baxter) is a bit better at 1/3 of the price...I do think it's worth it (sometimes) to enjoy Vietnamese in "luxury". The decor is perfectly authentic..down to the bathroom tile. This place makes me feel like Im walking into my grandmother's ancient colonial house in Hue...and the food...well, I dare ... read more
