This doctor is the best. Had total knee replacement a month ago and managed my pain with Tylenol (due to allergic reaction to pain meds). It was not as bad as I was led to believe by others who had had it done. His expertise and bedside manners are what make him a great doctor. Very willing to listen and answer questions.
My family members and I have had many occasions to seek orthopedic services over the past twenty years. I had come to believe that being treated in an assembly line fashion was inevitable. Changing practices to Ellis and Badenhausen was a revelation. My experience there (total hip replacement-2017) was excellent. Never had to wait more than ten minutes to be seen and was never there for more than an hour. People were kind and friendly, efficient and competent. Dr. Schafer is outstanding.

I'm a nurse with over 30 years of nursing experience. My tenure in the medical field have afforded me the opportunity to work with some of the best physicians in Louisville. However, Dr. Schaper is among the best of the best. He is knowledgeable, confident, assuring, patient, with a bedside manner any patient can appreciate. He does not rush when explaining procedures, xray results, recommendations for care. A rare find these days. If you need an orthopedic specialist this doc is your man!
