Bridge and Tunnel Best-Kept Secret – I'm part of a weekly Wednesday drinking group of 30 or so regulars who love to drink, geek out, talk and eat after work. We check out a different bar each week. We've been kicking around the city for 12 years. In that time we've visited several hundred bars (with repeats of faves). Perfect Neighborhood Bar – I've never written a review before but after many a night at this neighborhood gem I felt it was only fair to show Lansdowne some love...as they've surely shown me some! The bartenders and waitstaff are super friendly, second only to the manager himself who always makes a point to come say hi and buy back the occassional drink for loyal customers. Outstanding service, great atmosphere, excellent selections – I just came from Lansdown Road after our company of 120+ people descended upon the bar without warning after our building was evacuated from a fire (which was extinguished without incident, btw). At 11:30am, with one bartender, one server, a manager and small kitchen staff, they rallied to serve us lunch and drinks quickly, efficiently and pleasantly. We were so happy! Great selection of Single Malts, bourbons, tequila and beer. – What a gem, Must have walked by twenty times before going in, and now it's a firm favorite. Great selection of Single Malts, and the bartender was well versed on them all, she was so helpful and friendly, she also turned my boyfriend onto some lesser known Irish whiskeys. Great beer selection, great service, Beer Towers... and jocks – When we walked into the place it looked like there was a huge bong on several tables. I figured it really must be a specialty bar. Then we learned that it was really BEER TOWERS, kind of like a private pillar of beer, for your own pouring. Great and unusually attractive 'local' bar – I live a few blocks away, so when it opened I was among the first patrons. The place is very upscale compared to most sports bars, but still has the and TVs tuned to sports everywhere on every wall and a comfortable feel for anything from jeans and a T-shirt up to a suit and tie. lots of tv's and great service – We went to Lansdowne on a Saturday night. Great friendly place. The waitress made sure our glasses were full and brought us new beer it seemed as soon as we swallowed our last sip of the old one. Beer is ice cold!! For Hell's Kitchen beer lovers in need of a good rugby scrum. – In Short The namesake of an Irish rugby stadium, this Hell's Kitchen pub is a sports lover's paradise. The spread: A red brick and rather spacious room with 12 plasma screens strategically placed throughout, as well as 14 beers on tap, including Checker Cab ales, Magner's Irish Cider and Guinness. An illuminated ice rail carved into the bar keeps pints forever frosty, while bodies are warmed with chicken pot pies, fish-and-chips, and bangers and mash.
Favorite sports bar in the city – Thank the owners of Scruffy Duffy's for opening this new bar. No more trekking over 8th avenue where all the tourists are. It was just TOO crowded over there.
