My dad was sent here by emergency through a 911 call. All I have to say is next time the emergency staff will be told to take him anywhere else than this hospital. I have dealt with this hospital in the past many times when it was Lakewood Regional. My mother was hospitalized there several times and the last time was for surgery in 2020. I never had the experience I had with my dad's hospitalization this past March. My experience was horrible b/c I was sent to Riverside in an ambulance and got stranded there for hours until I finally got an UBER to take me home! I know that sending me to Riverside was NOT supposed to happen b/c my insurance is from Los Angeles. The Dr. was upset with me b/c I didn't know that they didn't have an eye specialist. Like I'm supposed to know what Dr. 's they've got there. Her attitude (the Dr.) was harsh as she told me, "You know there's no eye specialist here? The wait was so long. I was having a panic attack, tightness in my chest heart area, a headache and soreness in my right arm as if I had lifted weights. I sat outside for 44 mins. Then I got a call back, they took blood, vitals and chest xay. I have been sitting out side for an hour crying uncontrollably. This hospital is horribly structured. My mother came here for a foot surgery—a simple, hour procedure for a fracture—at 9:30 am. It’s now 6 PM and I have had to call the recovery room myself THREE TIMES just to receive simple updates on the status of her release. This was a same-day release, and her surgery was scheduled for 12 PM. They didn’t take her until 2 PM and gave zero updates or check ins during her wait.
