Under whelmed and Over priced. I have not been here for a few years, but didn't realize how much the food quality had deteriorated. First of all, the chopped salad (which had been my favorite) consisted of a bunch of chopped lettuce with slivers of salami, few chickpeas and barely any cheese. But to add insult to injury. I ended up paying an additional $1.50 per item that makes it a regular salad, ie: tomatoes, cucumbers, mushrooms. So basically I ended up paying $16.00 for the sorriest salad ever. Next came to lasagna. Anot... read more
Number One Chopped Salad in Town (Despite Rocky Service) – I've had mixed experiences with the service here (but have only ever been for lunch). Sometimes they've been snobby and short, but other times they've been warm and friendly. Even considering that, I'll keep going back for the salad. The perfect balance of chopped lettuce, garbanzo beans, mozzarella and tangy dressing. I skip the salami and go for grilled chicken. They do a great take-out business, so skip the waitstaff entirely and just drive up and get it to go.
Horrible, downright offensive – The supposed manager offended me, my wife, and my parents by calling us liars, refusing to seat us until the person parking the car was physically standing in front of him. He then threatened not to serve us lunch if the 4th person did not show up immediately. We chose to take him up on his offer and had a delightful lunch at Pizzicota up the street. So much for caring about customers in a recession. I will never go back an neither should you, unless you want to be hearded in and out so they c... read more
Terrible Service, pick another great Brentwood restaurant – Avoid La Scala in Brentwood, there are so many other great restaurants to choose from. The service is terrible!!! The restaurant was empty but the host refused to seat us while our guest parked their car, then we were told we must order the moment we sit down because they need to turn the table, again, the restaurant was EMPTY. I even offered to order an appetizer while reviewing the menu and I was still told we must order right away or we would have to leave, UNREA... read more
We Will Not Return – Did I go to the right La Scalla Presto on San Vicente Blvd in Brentwood? What are these other reviewers smoking? I went to this restaurant, because it was highly recommended (5 stars?) on this website and my fiance and I were so disappointed. The service was okay, but the food was terrible. Overall, I think this place is a rip off. First of all, the prices were very high. We ordered an bottle of wine worth $8, but marked up to $34 and this was about the cheapest bottle on the menu. Second, their menu was... read more
The Italian bistro with the famous Leon salad that can be dressed up or down. – In Short There are two locations of this Italian bistro; one in Beverly Hills with more glamour and an extended menu, and an L.A. locale that's a casual cafe. Industry types, families and couples frequent both for the famous Leon chopped salad starter--finely chopped lettuce, marinated garbanzo beans, salami and mozzarella. The lasagna verde sits in bechamel sauce with ricotta, and eggplant parmigiana is baked, not fried. Espressos, complementing... read more
Tender is the eggplant – The "baked and not fried" eggplant parm is fantastic. There was so much and it was even great as my lunch on Monday!
The best Pastas in town. – This is one of the restaurants with the best Italian food. The pastas are excellent and the chopped salad is great. All of the pastas are good, no matter which one you order, you can't go wrong. The place is kind of small and pricey, but well worth every dollar.
La Scala has a 3.9 star rating with 171 reviews.
La Scala is closed now. It will open on Monday at 9:00 a.m.
