FLAVOR! Loved the house-made chips and salsa (they were probably everyone's favorite). I ordered the camarones ala diabla which are served in the shell and baked in chipotle sauce. They were perfectly spicy and tender. My husband thought his chorizo torta was the best he's ever had. Champaign Urbana have very few authentic/traditional Mexican restaurants and this is one of them. Granted their menu has some American foods, but their Mexican food is on point. I felt like I was at home. I had the chicken flautas with rice and beans. The flautas are huge! I was only able to eat two, it comes with three. This is a great place to come eat breakfast! They have your traditional eggs with your choices of sides like bacon or sausage, homemade biscuits and gravy, and many more great choices! My mom got the western omelette and LOVED it. I’m very pleased with the service and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant. Very nice people and very good food. Urbana has needed more places for breakfast, and La Mixteca is perfect. I can’t wait to come back and try their lunch and dinner specials!
Restaurant review New restaurants always a generate a buzz in Champaign/Urbana and this one was no different. I was surprised this showed up on the local facebook feed before Yelp so I decided to go here on Father's Day. It has only been opened a week or so.
