This was the best first visit in a Doctor’s office I have ever experienced. After dealing with severe back pain caused by inflammation in the lining of my spinal cord for more than 4 months, and after 6 MRI’s a spinal tap, and countless blood tests, I came to Dr Mazellan. I was referred to Pain Management when I requested a prescription for NSAIDs that my insurance wouldn’t cover short-term due to mail delivery options. This unnecessary referral was refused since I do not want pain medications. I MOVED TO INDIANA FROM ARKANSAS WHICH THE DOCTOR IN ARKANSAS HAD MY BACK PAIN UNDER CONTROL. I WAS REFERRED TO MAZELLAN ONCE I GOT MY APPOINTMENT 4 MONTHS LATER. I TOOK MY HISTORY FROM ARKANSAS TO SHOW MAZELLAN WHICH HE CARED NOTHING ABOUT AND THE FIRST THING HE SAID WAS I NEED TO LOSE WEIGHT WHICH I HAD ON A 20 POUND WEIGHTED VEST AND WAS NOT GIVEN A EXAM WHICH HE WOULD HAVE NOTICED. With extensive back pain and SI Joint issues for more than three years, Dr. Mazellan and his team have been fabulous in helping me find answers to control the pain. While we haven't been able to pinpoint a cause, over the course of six months, we have narrowed down options and finally found the best answer for this point in time. At this point, I've lost track of how many doctors I've seen (both in Saudi Arabia where I was maimed for life by a distracted and speeding driver in August of 2016 while I was trying to run across the street to get to a restaurant just so I could get some food because I was hungry—and here in the U.S. as well) who treat any talk of prescribing opioids as a threat to their liability, which is obviously more important to them than the amount of pain their patients are in.
