Caring and careful listener
I started with Dr. F after my other PCP retired, and on the very first visit, she ran a lab on a hunch that helped eventually determine I had a parathyroid tumor. I had had a history of issues related to excessive calcium (bladder stone, gall stones, kidney stones) over a decade, and she put two and two together. Thankful someone did! I had a very large parathyroid tumor removed last fall and that also led to me being diagnosed with Hashimoto's, which I was able to act upon. Nice doctor. Great listener. Multiple test errors. Staff didn't show concern or soft skills in communication about it. Retesting took time. Not a good experience overall, unfortunately.
The doctor takes her time with you and seems compassionate and wise. Some other staff have been brusque at times and avoided apologizing or showing concern after mistakes happened with more than one test. (The tests had to be redone.) I found this disappointing and annoying. Maybe they have too many patients--maybe it's the lab company they use. I don't know. First of all, let me start by saying that Dr. Fagerberg seemed like a good person. I went in to establish with her as a new patient as we had just moved. She seemed nice and caring and empathetic...until I got a bill from them saying that my new patient visit was considered a specialty visit and was charged a few hundred dollars more as a result. I have been seeing Dr. Fagerberg for a year. She is compassionate, knowledgeable, and accessible. I particularly like her "no-nonsense" approach to medicine, in which she both listens to me and responds to all of my questions, never making me feel foolish for asking. Great doctor, highly recommend.
