Chedeline was born with bilateral Tessier craniofacial cleft. She has had a difficult time in Jamaica due to the birth defect. She came to our office as a charity patient and my team and I performed a simultaneous cleft lip, cleft palate and nasal reconstruction followed by second stage facial partition. She has received community support from Notre Dame Prep. Chedeline is now going to school. We received this great update on her first day of school.
Mary and Maria got a guided tour of Beaumont today. Dr. Chaiyasate and team took them to the Peds floor and finished off their tour with an ice cream in the concourse! The girls were waiting while their mom, Cherry, underwent testing. All 3 will undergo Monobloc advancement in the next few months. (Their bones of their faces will be advanced) This is a very scary surgery but much needed surgery which isn’t available in their home town in Jamaica. @ William Beaumont Hospital

In 2016 we began a plan to bring this family of three to Beaumont for desperately needed help. It has been a long road, but today, With the help of a kind person named Vonnie and VCFS of Jamaica, they finally arrived!! Mom is almost blind and her two daughters are suffering as well. We were so happy to see Salamata again today! We also got to meet our new Ray of Hope baby, Roukiatou. She will have surgery soon to repair her cleft lip and palate!!
