This looks like just a sushi bar, but the place cooks it up like a restaurant. It may be the only place you will want to eat Japanese food in Portland. A part of a small local chain of Japanese food restaurant, this decor at this location is minimalist in nature; small spaces and simple, contemporary dining tables. The menu features a little bit of everything Japanese, and servings are generous. The Pork Katsu, a breaded and fried steak, is served with rice, Miso and salad. There's also a lot of options in Nigiri Sushi and S... read more

Offensive waitress will ruin your meal experience – Okay, if you want to order lots of food, avoid going here. An offensive waitress will tell you that you're ordering too much food several times even when you reconfirm her that you know what you are doing. My husband and I will never go there again. Not only the service is bad, I saw a chef sneezing on the food without covering his mouth. I have never experienced such an offensive behavior. Stay away!
A definite favorite and great for picky children! I love Koji's, and find myself eating there 2-4 times per month. I've been visiting other sushi restaurants, but so far none of them have surpassed Koji's as my favorite place to go.
Good variety of japanese cuizine – Great sushi and other selections like box lunches, and rice bowls. The price seems to be average. The place is small and a little cramped but that never bothers me. the staff is friendly and the service is good. Not the best sushi, but not the worst. A good place for lunch!!!
Such a disappointment! – Just moved to NE and figured we would get good food at Koji...wrong. I ordered food to go and got there when she told me to, wrong food, cold food and awful sushi. Wouldn't ever go back. Service was friendly, but that is it....such a disappointment. Hate to waste money on bad food.
Part of a chain of Japanese restaurants, this swinging Lloyd Center sushi joint packs 'em in. – In Short This restaurant is all about getting people in and fed in a hurry. Movie-goers and solo business diners pack into the small, sunken dining room. A dizzying array of Japanese specialties, from udon noodle soup to teriyaki, is available in addition to a standard list of sushi choices. Dinner items include broiled salmon, teriyaki and yakitori skewers. Shashimi is fresh, but rolls and nigiri are less inspiring.
amazing tuna sashimi! – I went here on the advice of some friends. I went during a Friday afternoon and got seated promptly. I had some of the best tuna sashimi I've had in a long time. The tuna was glistening and just melted in my mouth. I also was excited to find another of my favorite dishes, cold soba noodles--so refreshing on a hot day. The Unagi I had was also excellent too. I can't wait to go back and try the ramen noodles with miso and more sashimi.
great tasting sushi This restaurant offers great tasting sushi and really fresh sashimi. The prices are way more expensive than Sushiland that charges about 2 bucks per plate but the rolls here are bigger and taste much better.I had the salmon roll which was about 5-6 pieces for about 8 dollars. Only problem is that this restaurant is really tiny so you have to wait a while to get a seat and it's pretty cramped.
Good Sashimi – The spider roll is an interesting adventure but I always focus on the sashimi when I go to Koji. I have not had fresher tuna anywhere. I didn't try a lot of the cooked food, but people were eating it. The tempura was OK, but the overall odor of the cooking oil does not mesh well with the sushi and sashimi. That said, I will go back. Maybe they will have a new kitchen fan by then.
A place you want to frequent regularly – An up-to-date review for Koji Osakaya is desperately needed despite the harsh remarks made previously. It wasn't more than 2 monthes since my first visit to this joint, and I have still enjoyed my many visits to Koji. The lunch combo's are delicately made and, at the same time, at an affordable cost. The overall taste of its "cooked menu" is much above standards in Portland, whilst the Katsu-Pork Curry Rice brings back vivid memories of popular diner joints in metropolitan Tokyo.
