I just had my annual skin exam today. I have been seeing Dr Kois regularly for 8 years. Early on she detected 3 separate basal cell carcinomas that were surgically removed by her husband, Dr Pena. He performed mohs surgery on 2 that were on my scalp. Thinking back, she noticed the basal cells (confirmed by biopsy) quickly, although my skin has lots of freckles, plenty of harmless moles, and numerous harmless seborrheic keratoses. Dr. Kois was the first and only dermatologist to correctly diagnose me. I had issues with small wounds not healing and becoming unsightly on my legs, she correctly diagnosed me with having an issue with harboring staph on my skin. When I followed her directions my skin cleared up in a month.... I went to 3 previous dermatologists whose only advice was "stop scratching it". (For the record I was not touching them) Not sure why she has so many negative reviews.
Always great to see a Doctor and be called back into the exam room at your scheduled time.. and then have the Doctor see you the moment the Nurse is finished when her work! Dr Kois has been like this for many years. She's prompt, seeks to understand any concerns, answers all my questions and makes sure I don't leave there with any 'wish I would have asked' questions. After reading the negative reviews, I felt somewhat compelled to post a review of my own. First; my expectations for personalized medical attention in today's health care world, are not high. Having said that, my first experience with Dr. Kois far exceeded my expectations. Dr. Kois was conversational, engaging, and responded to the specific concerns I raised. I liked her. Her office staff was very friendly and her PA's were very efficient. I'll keep her as my Dermatologist.
