Repairing transmissions isn't easy! We've been open since 1987 and have learned that the number one qualification for excellent service is the experience of the technicians. At King's, each of our technicians has over 20 years of experience. All that experience means we're well equipped to repair or rebuild any automatic or standard transmission; foreign or domestic. In addition we also offer repairs on transfer cases, differentials and axles.

Stay far, far away from these people. They will trick you if you give them the benefit of the doubt, and once they sink their hooks into you, they will not let you or your car go! I had my 2002 Mazda 626 (worth about $3,000) towed to King’s this week. I was told over the phone that there was something seriously wrong with the automatic transmission (Duh, that’s why it was towed maybe?), and that it would either be an $1,800 repair or a $3,100 repair. I told the manager, Mark, that I needed to know which it would be before I ... read more
I came to King's with a part out of a Mercedes valve body I broke. The factory quoted over $1000 to replace it, so I spent about a month trying to find an alternative source. Today I was referred to King's Transmission, and am glad I went in. They told me that it is impossible to find the part without the rest of the valve body, so they took apart a valve body and gave me the part, for free. King's is one of the few honest transmission shops I've found.
DISHONEST, DON'T GO HERE!!!!! – I brought my car there. They asked me to sign the work order or invoice before they wrote on it. I said that doesn't sound right to me. Ken Armstrong said don't worry we have been in business a long time. We are trustworthy. I believed him. They took my transmission system apart without my authorization. I ended up having to pay them $485 in cash to get my car and my transmission parts out of their shop. I took them to small claims court but Mark Shaw lied on the stand. The burden of proof was... read more
Do Not Trust! – Despite clearly representing through posted signs in the shop that they take all major credit cards as form of payment, they demanded at the last minute that I pay for my $1200 service in cash and that they would keep my car until I came up with it. Mark at Barr Transmission fully disassembled my transmission and advised me I needed $3,600 in repairs. After speaking subsequently to my dealership, they informed me the service would be almost fully covered there, so I gave Mark instructions to reassemble and in... read more
Simple - don't go here! – It appears King's purges negative reviews (and I have read many) while they stack in some dubious "reviews" that seem pretty transparent. My experience was one of the most unpleasant experiences I've had with any business anywhere. They took in my car after I had a shifting problem with a pickup. "Mark" said they'd "have a look". I checked back the next day to be told it was "shot" and needed a complete overhaul. I was quoted $2300. A new tranny from the dealer was less! I told Mark I'd have to chec... read more
Fabulous. – When precious Mitsubishi evo started having a transmission problem I didn't know who to call. I had heard about King's from a friend. So I called and talked to Kenny. I made arrangements to drop it off the same day. He was very friendly, professional, and I knew right then and there I came to the right place. He took care of me like I was family, and fixed my car in no time! Very good job, would definitely recommend to everyone I know.
Wonderful! – It's very refreshing to have a place that I can take my van and not worry about a thing. They were welcoming and friendly and I could tell they had my best interest in mind. As a single mom of 4, I have a lot on my plate and Mark and the gang took great care of my van in an amazing amount of time. Definitely would recommend these guy's to anyone and everyone!
They don't honor warranty – After spending thousands of dollars there, the tranmission was still not smooth. I went back within a month, but they don't honor their work and warranties. Mark just blame other issues in the car. I took it to another tranmission shop for free evaulation. They claimed that it was the poor and unprofessional job Mark has put in. This is very frustrating how they treat their customers who have already paid so much.
68 CAMARO New Transmission – I needed a new transmission for my 68 Camaro show car. I've rebuilt just about everything on the car to show quality, but I also drive the car. I needed a new drag strip quality transmission and also capable of short freeway driving. I contacted Mark and Kenny - they listened to my needs and provided several options. As the project developed they provided me with updates and discussed solutions for the various issues that came up - all in a very professional manner. I have a lot of money into thi... read more
