My experience here was very poor. I took a used BMW in for a pre-purchase inspection ($150) and they never bothered hooking it up to a scanner. If they had, they would have found codes for misfires, a bad yaw sensor, and a check engine light. They also would have noticed that the check engine light on the dash wasn't lighting up (because the used car place in Rock Island I ended up buying it from had taken the gauges apart and covered up the light with tape). I got a used Certified BMW and the experience from start to finish was top-notch. The car was exactly as described, the salesman (Jim Weaver) was upfront and honest about everything and even the paperwork signing process went off smoothly.
