When the KEYBAR with it's FIREPLACE opened it's doors in October 2002, it quickly became a local favorite. Welcome to the Barn – If you like the smell of natural fertilizer (ie. manure), this is the place for you. I noticed the smell the first time but I decided to give keybar the benefit of the doubt, who knows, perhaps a horse had made an appearance the night before. Upon my return to keybar several weeks later, I noticed that the smell was not only still present but was as pungent as ever. The bartenders are hot but not worth the vomit-inducing smell.
nice lounge scene – East village feel but very laidback good place for happy hours and meeting up after work. highly recommended
A little fun, a little spooky, a lotta fun and just real kookie! – If you want the real East Village feel with just a splash of authentic Euro-flavor, Keybar is an absolute must. Owners are real, no B.S. or phony limp wrists here. Bartenders are attentive, friendly and know how to ply their craft. Just good fun and great music....oh yeah, and the drinks are even better than Dr. Jekyll himself could make. Bone Daddy gives two big bony thumbs WAY up for this place!
Good Vibes, Crazy Cocktail and Beautiful people – My friends and I were walking by and decided to stay for one drink and ended up staying 'till last call because the beats were CRAZY. I think the name of the dj was Attila and I have to say THANK U, good times...will definately be back. Who would think that such a small place has yummy cocktails -cumm- yummy music -cumm- yummy crowd? Was I dreaming? It was slamming.
The Neighborhood Bar – With the coziness and comfort of soft seating, a crackling fire in the brick fireplace on cold nights, and oddly over-saturated artwork hanging on the walls, this quaint east village bar is the perfect pitstop to linger on several of their specialty drinks after work. Great find – Saw this listing under 'Best Lounge' and decided to check it out. Got there early in time for the 2 for 1 drinks. The specialty martini was a little too sweet and sugary so we just went for the real thing after that. Cute bartenders were friendly. The fire was good to have on a cold night. This place is fairly small (it would make a great apartment) but since we were there early we got seats and a table and it was all good. Will go back again.
A great place to have a drink.. or many! – Atilla, the DJ/owner plays a great mix of house music all night. Atilla and barstaff were very personable and not stuffy like some NYC places. Considering I know the owner's name and we only went there one night should tell you something. The place is not huge and there isn't a lot of seating, but the atmosphere, music, concoctions and interesting people make up for it. We'll definitely be back.
Great Bday spot – I just had my birthday at the Keybar and it was a rousing success. The owners and staff made sure that everything was perfect for my big day. The DJ was spinning some great 80s dance music that had all my friends grooving and the beautiful bartenders made sure that the alcohol was flowing. Most of my 67 guests in attendance had something postive to say about their experience. Thanks Keybar!
Great DJs! – The DJs know how to rock a party from great house music, banging 80s and hard rock, to classic funk and hip hop. And the bartenders?!?! Oooh...daddy likes. I'll recommend this place to anyone who likes to meet new and friednly people, enjoy great music, and like to drink their face off.
