History Established in 1949. On February 24, 1949, Kern Employee's Federal Credit Union was officially established to serve the employees who worked for the County of Kern. At that time, there were approximately 60 members and $1,500 in assets. In 1980, we changed our name to Kern Federal Credit Union in order to extend our membership to anyone who works, lives, or worships in Kern County. Customer service perfect
Worst customer service!! Every time I have gone into the branch in the last two weeks I have received different information and each time something extra was added for me to do. Banking information provided to me for a wire transfer was wrong as well which caused further delay in receiving my funds. When I asked why there was an additional wait time that wasn’t mentioned before I was threatened to make it longer to 9 days. Told me the review period depends on the reviewer and the check amount. No one answers the phone here. I was also told i would get an email regarding an update on my insurance and I never got one yet I was charged by Strata CPI payment, even though i emailed them a copy of my letter of declaration for new insurance, and submitted it online through their website.
Live chat doesn’t work on mobile, and no one answers the phone. The only way to get ahold of anyone is to physically go in or video call the front desk. Super inconvenient if you move out of town like I did, or don’t like video calling strangers.
